EVIANNE DE VOLANE       Viscountess  of Ishgard,  Ruin explorer, archaeologist.  Noble lady, adventurer, and     survivor.

KAI - HE/HIM - 21+ - MATEUS - EST

Thanks for reading!   I'm a bi trans man that enjoys writing and RPing in FFXIV and various other fandoms, especially Cyberpunk, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age. I work in tech and am lucky enough to work from home, allowing me a bit of schedule flexibility. I like to write fanfiction and cosplay in my free time!

OOC GUIDELINES

  001.   I will do my best to be flexible in setting up roleplay, but understand that I may not always be available!
I'm typically available in the afternoons and evenings (EST) and can go earlier/later on weekends. I typically prefer to schedule RP sessions in advance; you might not have much luck getting a scene from me if you send me a /tell when I'm online asking for a spontaneous scene. Sometimes, I just want to play the game, and do content or craft. I prefer to start with in-game scenes with new RP partners, but once I've settled in and built trust, I don't mind starting Discord or Google Docs scenes!
NOTE: I roleplay in other fandoms, raid twice a week, and work a full-time job. Thus, i'm not always able to dedicate my full time/attention to XIV RP. I always do my best to communicate when there'll be a delay and be flexible when it comes to scheduling. Please understand and bear with me!  002.    I generally prefer roleplay with a lower power level, with concepts that build upon existing lore. I'd like to avoid RP that involves isekai characters, WoL characters, ancients, etc.  003.   I like to keep up open communication in and out of roleplay, which includes frequent OOC chatter and check-ins. I prefer to express my wants and feelings about roleplay candidly, and would be best suited for roleplay with others that feel similarly!  004.   For gender dysphoria reasons, I'm not comfortable being referred to by my femme characters' names. Please refer to me OOCly as Kai and not Evianne/Evi! I am a separate entity from my characters, but being referred to by feminine names hits a chord I'd rather not touch as a transgender man. If you have an issue with this, I'd kindly ask you to not interact with me. I understand that slip-ups happen, of course, and won't fault anyone when they do.  005.    I'm down for a variety of types of scenes and plots, from one-on-ones to group scenes! My favored themes are adventure, internal conflict, interpersonal drama, action, intrigue, and mystery. I can do some slice of life, but I need stakes in my roleplay to keep myself engaged!  006.   I'm often willing to try romance RP, but I can be selective with my RP partners. I expect a high level of OOC communication with anyone I RP romance with, and am not looking to find an OOC relationship through RP. Please understand! Evianne is also picky, so if she rejects a character, please know that it doesn't mean I don't want to roleplay with you, or don't like you.

DO'S

  • Noble intrigue / social drama (think: ASOIAF/GOT, Orlais in Dragon Age, etc.)

  • Adventure, ruin delving, artifacts

  • Character development & long-term plots

  • A healthy variety of scenes, ranging from high to low stakes and levels of conflict! Variety is the spice of life.

  • Frequent OOC communication, even if it's just to chat and check in!

  • In-game RP

  • Syncing with Lightless (DM me your code and I'll DM you mine! It's in no way necessary to RP with me, though.)

  • Getting started with more casual scenes before plotting deeper connections

  • Past IC relations (DM me and we can negotiate how your character and Evi might've known each other!)

DO NOT'S

  • Players under 18

  • OOC romantic relationships/flirting

  • Fast, meaningless hookups. Evianne might have flings, but I'd much rather they happen naturally with a story/character purpose.

  • Character death / permanent damage without explicit OOC permission

  • High-power concepts (Warriors of Light, Ascians, Ancients, Voidsent, etc.)

  • Isekai characters / characters pulled from other universes (interpretations cemented close to FFXIV lore are fine!)

  • Onscreen gore described in extreme detail

HOOKS

  SEEKER OF ANCIENT SECRETS      COMMON
Evianne is known within the archeology community as a young, emerging figure. She suffers some of her father's reputation— he was known to entertain theories his colleagues saw as ludicrous, and some wonder if his daughter will follow in his footsteps in that regard. Perhaps you heard of her findings?
  FOR THE SKY      COMMON
Evianne grew up in Ishgard's affluent districts, though she often wandered around the city as a child while skipping her sewing and mathematics lessons. If you spent time in Ishgard before the Calamity, you may have met her, particularly if you are/were a fellow noble! She also returned to Ishgard only a few years ago.
  FAILED BRIDE      RARE
Those in Ishgard's high society may have heard of Lady Violette de Volane's unfruitful campaign to find a suitor for her daughter. Before the Calamity, every betrothal made for Lady Evianne seemed to end shortly after, for varying reasons— ending with the death of the young heir to one of Ishgard's premier chocobo breeding families, only days before their wedding. Whispers abound— a strange coincidence for a lady that values her independence, yes?
  HUNTRESS      COMMON
Evianne spent years living as a hunter and adventurer after she fled Ishgard in a fit, in her youth. Those skills haven't faded. Do you need a valuable ally to have in a hunt? Evianne may be a good pick!
  TURAL      UNCOMMON
Years ago, Evianne's father was called to Tural by Dawnservant Gulool Ja Ja. Some locals remember him as a spirited man, eager to help investigate the nation's secrets, and charismatic and caring enough to leave an impression on those he worked with. Evianne is trying to learn the truth of his summoning, and his findings. Perhaps you encountered him, or encounter her now as she works to learn of a foreign land?
  VIPER      COMMON
Evianne is training under a Xbr'aal viper, and now bears the twin blades upon her back. This is in exchange for her assistance in felling a Tural Vidraal plaguing the wilderness, and in her mentor's stead, she may ask you for assistance in tracking and ending the beast.
  THE UNSEEN      COMMON
Evianne is a skilled, self-trained markswoman and scout. Her work ranges from straightforward hunts to more delicate infiltration jobs and espionage. If you need to gather information on someone in a discreet manner, perhaps you could hire her?

RUMORS

"I heard that many years ago, she was bethrothed to a young lord. It wasn't even a few days afterwards that he boy was murdered in the Pillars. I'm not saying it was her doing, how could I dare? Though I wouldn't put it past a young lady that values her freedom as much as she does..." -   Jeweled Crozier Shopper  "What do I think of the Lady Volane? Her father was a disgrace to the field. His papers were little more than wild theories, scrawled to sensationalize. He should have simply retired after that dragon took his arm and left the archeology to the true scholars." -   Opinionated Archeologist  "I would be quite careful around her, if I were you. Her mother is quite the calculating woman, and such things are wont to run in the blood." -   Firmament Worker  "You think her mother stepped down because of age? Hah! We all know that Lady Violette loved her power. The new Viscountess must have given her a strong incentive to give it up, if you know what I mean." -  Drunk Nobleman  "She's the one that hired her seneschal from the Brume, isn't she? Heard he ain't even Ishgardian. Buggered all the way from Ala Mhigo to eat outta 'er hand. Maybe he's there to keep a handle on that mad griffin of hers? Heard those things can tear ya apart at the drop of a hat. The hell's she thinkin', keepin' a beast like that around..." -   Rambling Coerthan  "Have you heard? House Volane has cozied up to Fortemps. It does make sense, with all the foreigners crawling around her manor. Can you imagine? Ugh, the dirt they must track in!" -   Fastidious Dame

MOTTO    J'aspire, J'endure  FOUNDED    ~34 years ago  PRODUCTS    Furs, hides, leather goods, animal products  KNIGHT SPECIALIZATIONS    Marksmanship, acrobatics  ALLIES    House Fortemps  PRIMARY RESIDENCE    Volane Manor, The Pillars, Ishgard  OTHER RESIDENCES    A hunting lodge located in House's lands in southwestern Coerthas

HOUSE VOLANE (WIP)

HOUSE VOLANE   is considered one of Ishgard's newer noble houses, founded when the title of Baron was awarded to the Knight Convictor Aurélien de Volane upon his courageous slaying of a dragon that'd ravaged a small settlement in Coerthas. Little is known about the Volane family before their ascension, save for their rumored skills with the bow. Indeed, most members of the bloodline can boast a keen eye and martial prowess, in exchange for a lack of magical talent. The previous Baron showed little ambition, seemingly comfortable pursuing his own dreams of archaeology as he raised his daughters with his wife Violette, a daughter of House Blanchard, a minor house under the Haillenarte banner. Upon the Baron's mysterious death, neither of his daughters were old enough to take on his mantle— so Lady Violette deemed herself the new Baroness. Her ambition led the House to financial prosperity, and an elevation for her to the status of Viscountess through a series of shrewd alliances with other Houses, including a deal with House Fortemps, and well-placed investments into Ishgard's hunting and leatherworking industries.Years later, the title of Viscountess was passed down to the youngest daughter, Evianne, after Lisette declined to inherit. Evianne has continued to expand the number of hunters and leatherworkers under the House's employ, seeking to take advantage of their abundant, forested lands in Coerthas. She has even invested in the adventuring business, if rumors are true, sponsoring a group of foreign adventurers of her own choice. With this gesture, plus the rumors of the good pay and treatment House Volane's staff receives, and their aligmnent with House Fortemps, the public perception is that House Volane embraces the newfound change come to Ishgard, for better or for worse. For its age, House Volane has seen remarkable success. However, whispers abound about the source of that success— and the hint of inner turmoil that underlies it. How long will they last amongst Ishgard's elite?

HOUSE VOLANE MEMBERS & STAFF

The current Viscountess possesses both her father's love for adventure and her mother's cunning. She seems to treat House Volane's workers well, even joining the hunters on occasion, but it can't be denied that she's often busy with her own career in archeology and relic hunting.

The founder of House Volane was known to be a jovial man. The only time he was seen without a grin was when he was accompanied by his wife. Rumors abound about their relationship, but after his mysterious death, ruled to be self-inflicted by the Holy See, such rumors rarely see the light of day. Instead, he is remembered for his work in archeology, and his writings of his travels around the star. Some sit in the Scholasticate to this day.

Aurélien's widow, Violette, hails from a family of merchants in service to House Haillenarte. A woman of ambition and ruthless cunning, Violette expanded House Volane's operations, as well as secured an elevation of their titles. Whispers abound about her methods in achieving such success, though none dare speak such hearsay in her presence. Whenever asked to speak on the passing of her title to her youngest daughter, Violette grows cross, and refuses to answer.

Lisette de Volane, the oldest of Aurélien and Violette's two daughters, showed no interest in inheriting the station of Viscountess. She joined the Knights Dragoon as her mother led the House, only to disappear during the Dragonsong War. Some time after peace came to Ishgard, she returned to the city. The reasons for her absence remain unknown to the public. She maintains a much less serious demeanor than the Viscountess, often teasing her.

The former head butler of House Volane has taken on a smaller role after his retirement. He has served the House since its founding, nearly fourty years past. Only he knows how to prepare tea in the way that pleases Lady Violette. With his son now leading the House's staff, he has relaxed in his old age, and often holds a warm smile when greeting guests.

When his father retired, Laurent took the place of head butler. He runs the house staff to his exacting standards, with the belief that nothing but perfection will suffice for their employers. Much of the house's staff hold a healthy fear of him mixed with respect. He moves through the halls at an impressive speed, with his footsteps barely making a sound. Knowledgeable individuals may recognize his movements as one of a man trained in stealth.

Vyncent, with his colleague Vivienne, handle all House matters during one of the Viscountess's frequent absences. Vyncent, a Scholasticate graduate, was chosen for his intellect, as well as his sharp wit. He can approach matters with a mind too mathematical, at times.

The more light-hearted counterpart to Vyncent, who often irritates him with jokes as they work. When it comes to the negotiating table, few can match the Viscountess's skill with words, but Vivienne shows a surprising apitude once her disarming exterior falls off.

A stern House Knight that rose through the ranks, eventually earning Evianne's notice. When Evianne took on the mantle of Viscountess, she installed him to lead the House's small contingent of knights. Almost never seen smiling, aside from occasions where the Viscountess murmurs a joke to him during strolls in the city. In his words, "I don't protect the Viscountess because she needs it. I do so that she doesn't have to lift a finger."
